Ok ok ok, so lack of posts. I will try to write a really long one this time. So you heard all about Rachel's wedding, but you didn't hear about Santina's friend Carolyn's crazy wedding I attended with Santina! There are three letters that will sum of this weekend: 'O M G.' Ok, so Santina and I left Boston on Friday the 3rd and headed to Newburgh for the weekend. We had a really nice dinner with Santina's mom and went to bed like normal people at a reasonable time. On Saturday morning, we went to the mall and picked up a few things we needed for our extra hot outfits for this wedding. Then we went to the wedding which was in a church, and it was very short and sweet. It was very hippie/upstate NY complete with Lion King music as the bride walked down the aisle. It was really nice though. So then we went to the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel for the reception, and that's when things got ugly. And by ugly I mean awesome. There were a million people at this wedding and the reception was so classic upstate NY, I loved it. There was a cocktail hour with the best food of the evening and lots of it. I was feeling a bit buzzed by the time we went into the reception hall for dinner, and pretty much trashed by the time the soup came. Yes, soup. At a wedding. (SOUP? WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THIS SOUP?!) There were all the cheezy song and dance numbers including the electric slide, and other favorites. There was this part with fire at the end, but I didn't know what was really going on, so it kind of freaked me out. It was a really nice wedding, and I could tell the bride and groom were so happy and loved each other very much.
After the reception, we all took what seemed like an hour long drive to the Best Western where partying ensued for another good 5 hours or so. I spent a lot of time standing outside sporting my dress with an awesome Adidas hoodie over it watching people smoke and just mingling in general. We met a few priceless characters who I never want to see again, including a meaty headed faux-hawk man who couldn't stop about how much Detroit rules, and also a guy that kind of looked like Nightcrawler from X2 but with creepy lasers for eyes. I only really remembered creepy-eye guy rolling around on the floor outside, and then trying to give Santina his shoes. She refused. She would rather wear one of Greg's than two of that guys'. So all and all, REALLY fun night. ;)
The next day we ate breakfast in our dresses/sweatsuits at the Pok diner and then went home to shower (FINALLY) before going to see the Borat movie. I don't know, I like Ali G better. Then me and Santina decided to take sweet sick days and stay another night. (Once the seed is planted...) We went over to Tim's apartment and played Monopoly until I was falling asleep. Then on Monday we headed back to our real lives in Boston. The weekend really felt like a mini vacation, it was great.
So then some work and crap and whatever. And then Fake Thanksgiving time!! Santina and I went to Troy last Friday to Will and Steph's house for Fake T. Friday night was really fun, we sat around and drank wine and had "The Real Rob Thomas" photo shoot. See: here. Saturday was cooking and party time. A lot of people turned out for the party which was awesome. We even had a red party cup/beer can parade around the neighboorhood and playground. We watched Mortal Challenge, which I feel was really the best film of 1997. Timothy Bottoms gives such a haunting portrayal of what life is really like after that piece of California breaks off into the ocean. Genius. There was also a bonfire in the tub in the backyard? I did not participate, but there are pictures. On Sunday we went to Robert's race in Delmar and cheered for him. He did really great! He's so good and cyclocross and never gives himself enough credit. I'm sure by next season he'll be at the top of the B's. It was really great to spend time with Robert, Rachel, Danny, Will, Steph, Tim, Beth, Ola, Joely, Eric, Megan, and Steve Timminson. He did a really great horse. He really pulled through for the team there.
After Fake T I headed to Plattsburgh for Real T. It was really nice to spend time with my family and go to Thanksgiving at my Grandma's house. I also got these really cool eyeglasses for my birthday from my mom. I also got a really generous gift certificate to Kaleidoscope Yarns from Eric (my mom's bf). I got some spending money from my Grandma and Aunts. I got a lot of good time to relax here too and knit. I'm almost finished the baby sweater, and I haven't seamed up the pinup girl yet. Also, I started knitting a noro jacket. I do have pictures of finished things in my camera that I have been too lazy to post here. They will most likely be all posted at the same time.
I'm really excited, because I'm going to Newburgh tomorrow for the weekend! It's going to be really fun. Then back to Boston, and my new job (still at Smarter Living. Still copying and pasting, but different copying and pasting!)!
