After making a pair of Dashing mitts for Arthur, I thought it would be nice to knit a pair of complementary mitts for Emily, his wife and my cousin. I really love this pattern and I really want some of these mitts for myself. They were extremely quick and they fit me perfectly. I hope they fit her!
I did make a couple of modifications to this pattern also. I added a thumb gusset similar to the way I did Arthur's, because I am a big fan of thumb gussets. I just think they are so much more comfortable. I also omitted the picot bind off, because I didn't really like how it looked. Below are the mods for the thumb gusset if anyone is interested.
Cuff:
After third cable round on cuff k 2 rounds in rib pattern.
next round: k 9 sts in rib pattern, pm m1 p1 m1 pm continue to end of round in rib pattern.
repeat
above round (increasing 1 st next to each marker) every 3rd round until
you have 13 sts in between markers (thumb gusset).
Next round: k in pattern to marker, place sts in between markers on holder, CO one st, k rest of the sts in round in pattern.
Work rest of mitt as stated in pattern.
Thumb: work as stated in pattern, just pick up 4 sts over cast on edge so you have 17 sts total.
