Today was a beautiful day, and I while I was outside, I took some nicer pictures of my new FO's. Here are the Wild Kat socks all dry and pretty. The Tofutsies yarn feels really great after it has been washed and dried. I am really glad these are out of the way.
I love my Argosy. The color is one of my favorites, and it is so soft and drapey after it has been blocked. It also wraps around my neck twice, which I like a lot.
I wore it during my errands and walk today.
During my errands, I made a trip to the Post Office and sent out my Valentine's Day swap package! Hopefully the recipient does not read my blog, but if she does, she can see that her package is on her way! I had a lot of fun shopping for it, and I hope she likes it. I am excited to get mine too!
Because I gave blood yesterday, I'm not supposed to be too active this weekend. I did go for a long walk, and then I did some cleaning around my apartment. I took down my little Christmas tree (finally) and put it all away. After doing those two activities and not drinking enough water, I felt a little light headed and run down. So, this evening I'm looking forward to just sitting on the couch, knitting my dishcloths, and watching figure skating.
Like it says on the cover of The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, "Don't Panic". Mice are a fact of life around humans, but they can be kept at bay. Good start. Tips: Bait the traditional Victor traps w/ crunchy peanut butter. Stuff a bit of nut into the curly metal bit where the "teeth" are. Smear just a teensy bit of peanut butter on the wire where it bends to slip into the little slot on the bait trigger. Set it so the wire is just barely into the slot -- if YOU set it off about 1/3 of the time when you're trying to just set it, it's about hair-triggery enough. When the greedy little ******* tries to gnaw the nut, "oh, SNAP." It'll bust his neck. Turn a plastic sandwhich bag inside out, put it on your hand like a thumbless mitten, and pick up the trap, mouse and all. Then uninside-out the plastic bag to contain Mortimer's Mortal Remains and the Agency of his (her) Demise. Dispose of the whole kit 'n' kaboodle. Or just dump the carcass and reuse the trap if it's not too icky.
Avoid touching the mouse. Some of them carry some ugly diseases (which is why killing them is a good idea). Lay out your supplies ahead of time so you don't have to wash your hands a zillion times between steps.
I'd further suggest skinning the critter and tanning the hide for doll leather and fur coats, and putting mouse heads on pikes (OK, toothpicks) around the perimeter of your property as a warning to others, but you might not appreciate the humor.
Let me know how it turns out.
