The original purpose of this blog was for me to show off my knitting projects - in progress and complete. Let's get back to that, shall we?
I recently finished the Chevron Scarf from The Portable Crafter: Knitting. I used 3 balls of Filatura Lanarota Puno in Denim Heather. I wasn't anticipating making this scarf. At the beginning of September, I went to Oregon with my family for my cousin Emily's wedding. I was (and still am) in the middle of knitting a hemp bathroom set, and I just wasn't feeling it. While we were there, my Aunt Di, Uncle Toby, Gram, Lacey, and I drove out to the coast to do some touristy shopping. We found a yarn store, and I took that opportunity to start a new project. This yarn was kept in a glass case by the register (weird), but wasn't overpriced. I picked up the yarn, a needle, and the book containing this pattern. They didn't have the right size Addi Turbo I needed, so I settled for a Susan Bates Quicksilver circular needle to use. I have accepted the fact that I am pretty much done with straights for the rest of my life. I was disappointed that I had to settle for the Bates needle, but I was really impressed with it actually! This is definitely a solid fallback option. I'm so glad I choose this yarn. Given the nature of the lace pattern, this scarf was a lumpy mess until I blocked it. Now it is so flat, soft, and beautiful.
I also finally got around to blocking these socks I finished before my move to Brighton. I used Knitty's Universal Toe-Up Sock Formula, and these socks fit PERFECT. I used a ball of self-patterning Plymouth Sockotta. To the n00b eye, these socks look very complicated, but they are not. Knitting a plain old sock pattern was a relief. The last few sock patterns I've done have had lace or purl patterns and have progressed SLOWLY.
I also made an awesome discovery today - ravelry.com! I have been wanting a website like this FOREVER, and I am bursting with excitement! It is still in beta, so I have to wait for an invite! I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A PART OF THIS. I could go on and on about all of the wonderful features and how excited about it I am, but you should just see for yourself.
