Ending Socktoberfest with another pair of socks!

Socktoberfest is coming to and end, and I'm really excited that I finished these socks on time.  I knit two pairs of socks in one month!  I really don't think I've ever knit socks this fast.  The faster I can knit them, the easier it is for me to see their charm and why some people only knit socks.

I think it was a good choice for me to add the beads in.  I'm glad it see it was much easier than I had thought.  I'm looking forward to starting a larger project with beads!

These socks also mark the end of the Tofutsies Sock Club for me.  The sock club was cool.  I am a little tired of Tofutsies, but I did learn a handful of new techniques by sticking to the club patterns.  A few of the new skills I have now are the Turkish Cast-on, knitting and attaching a folded cuff, and knitting with beads.  I'm excited to use some of my other sock yarns now!

Trying to finish one more pair of socks for Socktoberfest

I'm making good progress on these Blackberry Socks.  These are the last socks for the Tofutsies club, and I am VERY excited about finishing that up.  I really like this color, too, so that's making them even more fun to knit.

There are little black beads incorporated into the pattern on the ankle of the sock.  This is my first project using beads, and it's been very easy so far!  The weight of the beads also adds a nice drape to the fabric.  I think I'm going to look into knitting a shawl or scarf with beads, something that would take advantage of that extra drape.  I hope I get to finish these socks over the weekend!

Hugs 'n Kisses socks are done for Socktoberfest!

I just took these sock off of their blockers and I love the way they turned out.  They fit me perfectly, and I really like the color and how the X's and O's stick out in the cables.  These are the 2nd to last pair of my membership in last year's Tofutsies Sock Club.

I've also decided to participate in this year's Socktoberfest!  There aren't really any rules except to celebrate socks!  I have another pair I want to knit before the end of the month - the last pair for the Tofutsies club and then I will be done and able to move on to other sock designers and other sock yarn!  I also think that this winter, I'm going to start wearing my socks!!

Winterberry Socks are finally finished!

I finally finished these Winterberry socks up this week!  I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.  I was really excited to learn how to do the folded cuff, and the small bobbles on the ankles.  I don't think I really like either making bobbles or the way they look.  Once I got through the bobble rows on each sock, I could finish the rest so fast.

So now I only have two more pairs to knit and then I will be done with the Tofutsies sock club.  I am really kind of getting sick of knitting socks with Tofutsies, but I want to finish the club and be done with it.  Maybe it will renew my interest in knitting socks with other squashy soft sock yarn.

Winterberry Socks

Plugging along on the Winterberry socks.

I have designated these socks as my "traveling project" since I am only allowed to knit on my Jeanie shawl while I am at home.  I knit on these socks when I am at places other than my house, like Justin's or knitting group.  They are coming along.  As you can see I have just completed the heel flap of the second sock.  I have to say, the bobbles are SO TEDIOUS.  These socks mark my first experience with bobbles.  I don't think I like knitting bobbles that much.  They are time consuming and they look like little nipples.  I am really pleased with the color of this Tofutsies yarn though.  This is the December 2007 colorway from the sock club.  I have two more pairs of socks to go to complete the club.  I am eager to knit socks in something other than Tofutsies.

Winterberry Socks started

I started a new pair of socks to bring on my trip to Oregon.  I will have more details about Oregon when I get back home in a week or so.  These are the Winterberry Socks - the December 2007 Tofutsies Sock Club kit.  This is my first attempt at a folded hem, and I think I did a pretty good job.  This is also my first attempt at bobbles.  They are a lot easier than I thought, but I don't think I am a fan of making them, or how they look.  I found out that is is kosher to bring knitting on our rafting trip, so we'll see how far I get on these.  I hope they smell like campfire!

Fiddlesticks Socks Finished!

Here are the Fiddlesticks socks all washed and blocked!  I took them outside yesterday in the 85 degree weather to take pictures.  I even got a little color on my face!  I loved using the Magic Loop technique.  I will probably do all of my socks this way from now on.  It's so easy, and you only have one needle to worry about.

Even though the color was for the October Month for the Tofutsies Sock Club, I feel like it fits in nice for spring and the beginning of summer too.

The next pair of socks I will knit will probably be for Sock Wars.  I hope I at least make it a couple of rounds!

Fiddlesticks socks started

I have knitting to show you!  The Carolyn sweater has become too cumbersome to this world (sing it!), so I brought the October Tofutsies sock club socks home to Plattsburgh with me last weekend.  I got a good start on them.  These are the first socks I am knitting using the Magic Loop technique.  I think this is defintely my favorite technique so far.  You only have to worry about one needle instead of two or four and I am knitting these so fast!  The pattern is also pretty simple to memorize.

This week I am working on finishing Carolyn since I am back in Boston (I don't even want to get into that) and I'll take a picture of it regardless of my progress by the end of the week.

Socks that fit my feet, my favorite kind!

The Summer Daze socks are all blocked and finished!  I love when they are all flat like this.  I think I am ok with the spiral-pooling that the colorway produced as I knit these.  I am very anxious to try out Magic Loop on my next pair of socks!

This weekend I also pulled out the Wavy Gravy scarf and finished it up.  It had been hibernating since early last year.  It didn't take me very long to finish, it was just a matter of buckling down and doing it.  I really love the colors of this yarn, and I realized that I have a shirt that exactly matches it!  This weekend was pretty productive knitting-wise.  I also cast on and made pretty good headway on a new sweater.  I'll have pictures of that tomorrow.

Summer Daze socks unblocked!

I finished the Summer Daze socks! That was a record, eh?  They are not blocked yet. I always think unblocked socks look impotent.  I did not block these last night because I had a sink full of dishes!  The blocking will happen today after work, and hopefully I can get outside during the daylight and take some FO pictures of these!  I can actually take pictures of them ON MY FEET!  WOO!  I think I am going to try out Magic Loop for the October Tofutsies socks.  What's next?  I think I am just going to buckle down and finish that Wavy Gravy scarf that's been living in that sidebar forever.  It is a very quick and easy scarf, but you know how it gets when you put something down for a while.  I am also so anxious to start a new sweater!
